The Unexpected Table Explores

By 2030 women will control roughly 70% of the nation’s wealth.

A welcome from your host Joline Godfrey.

Joline Godfrey, Creator & Curator of The Unexpected Table

All lives are journeys. Mine is composed of purposeful passages and stumblings in the wilderness; magic, marvels, and miseries—leading me (inevitably?) to The Unexpected Table—a site for new and old friends to explore the mysteries of thriving—in families and communities.

As a social worker I’ve worked with the poorest of the poor and the wealthiest of the wealthy. I broke ground in the late 80s with Our Wildest Dreams: Women, Making Money, Doing Good, Having Fun, one of the first books documenting the lives of women entrepreneurs. In the early 90s I followed that up with No More Frogs to Kiss: 99 Ways to Give Economic Power to Girls supporting a new consciousness of financial power in girls and women. By 2003 my work focused on financial education for children and families. I published Raising Financially Fit Kids and established a fresh approach to financial education.

The Unexpected Table is my personal forum for writing, thinking, imagining, hosting and exploring ideas about families, change, and innovation. It’s an incubator of new ideas and strategies. I host private conversations and public forums; book parties and research efforts; bringing my own brain trust together with curious and passionate old and new friends.  Hosting conversations of eclectic tables to learn and discover is one of my core passions. I am happy to have you join me in this endeavor.
